What should your tech pack specify for crew-neck t-shirts?

  1. 01 Fabric: composition (100% cotton, CVC or poly-cotton), single jersey, and a target GSM with a tolerance — ±5% is common
  2. 02 Neckline: rib width and composition (with or without elastane), and back-neck tape or shoulder-to-shoulder tape
  3. 03 Measurements per size: body length, chest (usually 1–2 cm below the armhole), shoulder, sleeve length and opening, with a tolerance for each
  4. 04 Stitching: cover-stitch width at hem and sleeves, and side-seamed construction
  5. 05 Shrinkage limit after washing, in length and width — and whether the fabric should be compacted
  6. 06 Labels and packing: sewn neck label or tagless print, care-label position, fold size and polybag

Common questions

Is it duty-free into my market?
Into the EU, UK and Japan, knit garments cut and sewn in Nepal enter at 0% while Nepal is a least-developed country — with our REX statement on origin on your invoice for the EU and UK, and a GSP Form A certificate for Japan. We confirm the rule for your exact HS line and market before you order.
Is a T-shirt with a ribbed or drawcord hem still HS 6109?
No. The Harmonized System chapter notes exclude from heading 6109 any garment with a drawstring, ribbed waistband or other means of tightening at the bottom — such styles usually fall under 6110 instead. It changes the commodity code on your invoice and customs entry, so tell us about the hem and confirm the line with your broker.
Which GSM should I choose for a T-shirt?
As a rough guide, about 140–160 GSM suits promotional and lightweight fashion tees, about 180–220 GSM feels like a solid retail tee, and 240 GSM and above is heavyweight streetwear. Yarn (combed or ring-spun) and compaction change the hand-feel as much as weight does — our GSM guide goes through it.
